I never thought 2016 would look like this

I didn't even know where to go with this. I was originally going to do this on nostalgia. The past two weeks I have been in my emo bag. I had a old blog that some on this list may remember, and I read it in its entirety. Reading my growth and reminding myself how far I've come, and also checking myself on the things I've been talking about changing for years. It resonated so much, I obviously had to dedicate this email to it right?

Wrong.

Because yet again our (or at least my) faith in humanity was hit with these mass murder in Orlando. I literally get confused when I hear things like this. How much hate do people have in their heart to want to take the lives of people who are happily living in their truth? I'm no saint. I def be judgey with some things and people. Let me not be fake with y'all. But, never in my life have I ever thought about killing someone. I may have threatened a few ex's but they knew I wasn't serious (I told y'all I'm not going to act fake)... neither here nor there though. And especially because some one was different. Some blame it on mental health... some on religion. Either way, its hate. A self hate that's grown so much that it couldn't be contained within the person anymore and had to be unleashed on people who were just trying to enjoy life. You may not agree, and that's your opinion but I write the email sooooo...

Also, please let me remind/inform y'all that Donald Trump used this tragedy to remind people he's an idiot by saying "Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don’t want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance.” He also repeated his call to temporarily ban Muslims from coming into the US. I never thought 2016 would look like this.

So this email doesn't even really have a theme. However, I will use it to remind you that this world isn't perfect. We see things like this and have to go about our lives like we aren't affected... or fight to be empathetic because we are so numb by the regular acts of violence we see daily. DAILY. Believe in something greater than you. Make your mental wellness a priority. Cherish those you love and create memories with them because tomorrow isn't promised (especially when there are people running around recklessly and disgustingly playing God).
